166 Maunganui Road
Earthquake Strengthening & Retail Fit-out
Another project undertaken during the COVID era. Upon completion of 162-164 Maunganui Road, the tenant of 166 was able to be relocated for works on their building.
The Landlord was notified of a delay in sourcing and painting structural steel. As the tenants had already been arranged for relocation, the call was made to commence demolition with the potential for a stand down period. The benefits of this method was that the existing structure would be exposed. Any unforeseen issues or inadequacies could be resolved and rectified prior to the steel arriving. Fortunately what was found was only minor, and dealt with. Afterwards everyone waited. After close to 3 months, the steel was ready. Installation commenced and the carpentry works followed.
The new alunimium joinery shopfront was being fabricated whilst this was underway. Once the new entry ramp had been formed, these were installed and the finishing of the shop could be done.
Over 6 months with a 3 month stand down.
