Kaitao Intermediate School Remediation and Refurbishment
Arrowsmith was awarded the contract to construct a gable roof over the administration and office block of Kaitao Intermediate School. The existing internal gutter remained in place, and the internal structure was to remain untouched. With a span of 30m long and 15m wide, the roof was a challenging project.
In addition to the roof, a block of 4 classrooms underwent refurbishment, including new joinery units, plumbing and electrical fittings, floor coverings, and paint. The project timeline was tight, with handover required prior to the start of the new school year. With both projects running concurrently, precise scheduling was required to ensure both remained on track.
Despite the challenges, all four classrooms were successfully handed over before the start of Term 1. With the first COVID-19 lockdown looming, the Admin Block was handed over with only one day to spare. The successful completion of the project was a result of effective resource management and close coordination between the project team and the school administration.
